What would a celebration look like?

Sure we do! We celebrate Independence Day - which was the ultimate act of terrorism against the British Crown.

What did Guy Fawkes ever do, compared to an entire colony occupying half a continent up and leaving, with the gall of smashing the British Army on the way out?

Fawkes blew up some gunpowder. Big deal.

Umm... they caught them before they did.

I watch V for Vendetta and Mr Robot.
Then I make s'mores.

We lived in England for a long period of time. Burning thd "Guy" always seemed ridiculous and set a bad example. Just have a bonfire- no need to burn a person to death and celebrate.
You like November? Get a fire pit and toast marshmallows.

We do. We are British though.

Why? It's like celebrating Thanksgiving in France. Why would we do that?

I haven't seen any celebrations. But I always tell my kids. And since they were born here, they roll their eyes. Sigh.

I’m British and many years ago I went to a Friends bonfire party on the 5th when I lived in Northern VA. Not heard of anything recently though.

There are so many British traditions that I want to continue here but no one to share with.
Is Guy Fawkes celebrated here in DC, anywhere in the States?
