They want to grab another layer of top players from the clubs in the region. Depending on how this first year is going for them, they might or might not be successful.

I think so. Someone who just wanted to provide information would have posted this on an existing thread. They wanted another Metro thread, where only Metro is discussed.

Hear me out, CHRVA should offer a list of these clubs on their site so we can just get to it already lol 🤪😂

Metro North has historically been the second best Metro team after Travel. Their location plus history has allowed them to attract good players.

East has been extremely variable, sometimes good but just as often at the bottom of the Metro teams and the lower third of the region.

South PW and South FX are similar to East but with even more variability across ages and a lower level of performance when they do well.

Central is historically the worst region in terms of performance. They usually take players that are receiving low level offers from other clubs or no offers at all.

Generally, no one would consider the Metro regionals expect North close to the performance of other travel teams, unless you count the clubs that travel when they really shouldn’t.

Metro family here with multiple players on regional teams. I think the regional teams are underrated to be honest. We have had a much better experience with Metro over other clubs re coaching and level of play. And some of our regional teams consistently beat teams from local clubs like Mojo, MVSA, MD Jrs, MOCO, Vienna, Paramount 2s, etc.

Agree with you on North. I disagree wholeheartedly with you on South PW - they have been generating some higher performing teams the last several years and are competitive and playing up and winning/medaling. East can be inconsistent but was strong last year. South Fairfax and Central are pretty inconsistent.

We know some girls who are good players who were rejected from the regional teams and the national team. So they are being selective.

Which is “better”? Travel or National?

Why not cancel plans if you don’t have enough quality kids from actual tryouts? It feels like a $$$ grab to just fill roster spots with anyone who doesn’t have a club spot yet, but maybe this is usual and I am just not aware of it.

Virtually all of the regionals didn't fill their teams with the players that tried out at the first tryout. Either they turned them down or there weren't enough players apparently. Looks like one of the biggest impacts of the new Metro National teams could be a further degredation of Metro regional quality.

It looks like they may be having trouble filling their National teams as well? Didn't they announce a make-up Tryout for their 17 National team?
