To be honest, she is really just an example of someone so late to the game (started playing as a HS junior!) that was so naturally talented. I’ll go in a different direction and say wow she could be at a top 10 program if she had an on ramp!

I have watched AU play and she is a stud for sure. I didn’t know anything about her history so I went back and looked at old Cap Hill rosters and saw she was at Xperience at 17s. Wasn’t sure if she was late to volleyball or new to the area.

Looks like 17 Black is signed up for Club level at most of its tournaments this season. 17 Travel is signed up for mostly Open level. Make sure you know which 17s team you’re considering.

Check AES stats and rankings. It’s not good.

DD played for Vienna Elite for a couple of years while learning the game but decided not to return. Last year the 16s teams performed terribly. Leadership at the club continues to enter the teams in Open when it’s not an Open level club, and the teams are nowhere close to being Open level teams. I think one 16s team lost every single match at every single tournament and maybe won two sets the entire season. Parents spent close to $7k before travel and hotels only to end up playing the other bottom ranked Vienna Elite team out of state and losing to the 2s team.

It’s a nice culture but I don’t think it’s worth the price tag if you have any other options.

VE has gone down hill in the last few years. Coaches are new, teams are mixed with medium experience players with beginners. Their top teams would compete in Open level in very tournament and ended up at the bottom every time. So if you are looking for challenges then go for it.

Which team? We can possibly give you more feedback on the coaches.

My daughter played there last year and didn’t try out again this year. It was frustrating because there were a few experienced players and many new to club. That’s not what she thought she was joining and hard for the girls with experience. It was the reason her team struggled but it was a different age.

In northern VA and DD got an offer tonight. Coaches seem good but 16s look like they had a rough time last season according to AES. Anybody able to share thoughts about this club? Thank you.
