My DD took AP world, got all As, a 5 on the AP test. But, her focus is more STEM. She is taking AP in all other content areas besides social studies this year, along with an additional science AP elective. She moved down to honors for US History to give herself some breathing room. It’s working well. I’m assuming it is enough to show she can do AP work in history, even if she doesn’t take the class each year. I guess we will see.

No they weren’t. First line of the post specifically said AP US history. OP is asking if APUSH is required. Meaning can they still get into a good college.

Kis never took this and is at Michigan. Also was accepted to JHU, and Tech for engineering.

US History is much easier than World. They have already had quite a bit of it in ES and MS- it is more, but some is review. World teaches you how to write the essays and you can just you what you learned there too.

My DC went to Purdue and majored in engineering. The nine credits he got for World, US and Government APs helped immensely in covering his general required credits.

I think they are required to take US history and US govt, your choice on the level.

My kid didn't take AP World or APUSH, but he did take AP Government. He's an engineering major (currently a junior) and had very good admissions results.
