Employers are not impressed with degrees from top 20 schools as they once were. It's the individual that stands out now.

No.

No one really gives a shit about any of the others, and their names don’t carry well beyond the regions in which they are located.

And thanks to decades of failed social engineering experiments, even the HYP brands are now compromised and rapidly losing whatever value they once had.

Go to a school where you will be happy and do well. Don’t worry about the folks hold of a “brand”- it matters far less than you think.

Many would disagree...

Incredibly stupid take. Stanford and MIT have well surpassed HYP in this era of tech and AI.

Have to agree with the PP. Even in the mid 1990s when I was applying to colleges, a wise older man said to me there only two types of schools in America, Harvard and everyone else.

Historically, the graduate outcome of HYP and I'd throw in MIT and Stanford and Caltech to the mix was a significant step up from the rest of the Ivies, and I am a graduate of one of the other Ivies. Can't disagree with this perspective.

And also cannot disagree that the HYP brand has been significantly weakened in the last 15 years due to social engineering. Same goes for the rest of the Ivies. Still great alums coming out of these schools but there is a clear divide between top and bottom half of classes.

Most kids won't have the option, even if they are better candidates than ones who get accepted.

Why do you care about brand?

The question is about brand quality after you graduate, not fit during application process.

Yale's brand is weak in stem, but they are interested in stem kids to boost their stem part. Yale may not be the best fit for a computer science kid, but is happy to admit them. I wouldn't shy away from Yale just because I like to code.

better name brand for T1-5 than 5-10. and 2 of the top 5 are non-Ivy. But Yale and Stanford are both better than Penn.

It’s about fit you moron.

My current T10 kid only applied to 2 other T10. Rest were lower ranked T20. Got into most of them or waitlisted.

When you really heavily tailor your list, you tend to understand what a school is looking for and are able to match it much better in the Supp essays. It is not one-size-fits-all.

That’s the reason why most of the people who shotgun all of them end up doing so poorly in the admissions process.

Yes, Stanford and MIT have much better brand names than Penn or Brown.

Do you agree-
T10 ivy differs from T10 non-ivy in their brand style, but not in their brand quality?
