Opt out. there is no point. no college credit to be found with that one. why stress about it.

6 APs? What are they taking? Why?

My sophomore is going to take it. If the score is bad you don’t have to report it but won’t hurt if it’s good!

My kid didn't study and got a 5. Our school system pays for AP tests so taking was no brainer

This is actually good advice. Take it if going TO.

THANKS!!!

Why? It's easy. My kid easily got a 5. Just take it. Top schools like to see them challenge themselves in all areas.

Just concurring with everyone else - no school will give your kid credit or care about AP pre calc. However, if your kid doesn’t plan to take AB or BC next year, then maybe they should take the exam. My junior took it as a freshman and took AB last year and will take BC this year (school requirement). Kid is not going to get credit for all.

OP is a junior.

My 9th grader says his teacher advised him not to bother with the exam. It won't really count for college credit, and the exam score will be overshadowed by whatever he gets on the Calc exam next year (better or worse).

Might be different in 11th grade vs 9th, but I have to believe that getting good scores on the other 5 exams your kid is taking this year would mean more than having a 6th score.

I’ve heard that the AP Precalc exam is practically worthless — especially if a student plans to take one of the AP Calc exams. Few schools give credit for it; though we’ve noticed more this year than last. My sophomore is signed up to take the AP Precalc exam. But, it’s one of three AP exams this year, and they are viewing it as an opportunity to practice taking an AP math exam before calc next year.

Assuming humanities major, the impact is minimal. Among T25, two UCs and Stanford care about AP scores. Yale if test optional. Other than those, you will be ok.

No.. grades matter more that AP score unless grade is bad AP score can help. Or if you are test optional then AP scores may help.
