I am a multi-millionaire and the "purse" I use the most day-to-day is a reusable shopping tote I got for free from a hotel a few years ago. I don't recognize expensive purses on other people, I just don't know anything about that world.

I like bags and buy $3000 bags. I don’t care that you don’t. Most people probably don’t notice them. Meanwhile I wear Amazon jewelry.

Of course, you are not a werriodo.

I happen to have some of those and I love them for their pockets/zippers/craftmanship, however I also have a lulu bag I use almost daily.

There is no need at all to buy a purse that costs that much.

Unless it is Channel or Birken which hold their value better than almost all others.

I don’t. It’s too easy to carried away with all of this stuff. Because no one has just one $3k purse and everything else reasonably priced. You have to then have multiple $3k purses and the shoes, wardrobe, hairstyles, etc. to match. As much as I would love to look that put together, I know it’s just not me to out the time and effort into it.

I always wanted fancy stuff and then when we “made it” I was over it (ironically). Anecdotally I do notice that you get treated much better by strangers though if you’re out in public wearing visible status signals. People seem less reluctant to f with you.

I used to care. I grew out it. Also, I stopped carrying a purse when my kids went to college. I just carry my phone with cards on the back now. Maybe I’d feel differently if I carried one every day.

Same. Seems like a huge waste of money. If you are spending more than that on a purse, you are doing it for the status and nothing else. It’s a purely functional item. Unless the expensive purse is Hermione’s magic bag, there is nothing that a $1000 purse can do that a $50, $100 purse can’t.

I’m probably the outlier here but I don’t get the status from carrying a sub 5K bag. That’s not a ton of money for a lot of these people and I’d bet for many of them one of their bracelets or watch or whatever is much much more (just look at the recent thread on here where people shared the total value of their accessories they were currently wearing).

Now a Hermes or similar is different. But I don’t assume people carrying a $2K Gucci are wealthy. Kinda the opposite actually.

There are probably three thousand things i would spend the money on before I would spend it on a purse, but some people seem to like them. I guess if you have the money and like them, its just a preference.
