New to You in McLean is great if you have high end items. 50/50 split if it sells. If it doesn’t sell, you can pick it up.

Are any other stores similar to Reddz and will buy items from you as opposed to traditional consignment?

Most in-person consignment you will net 40-60% of the profit depending on the store.

The Real Real, as someone mentioned above, is based on how much you sell. If you sell more, you get a higher percentage.

Poster who consigns with Secondi. It's 50%.

I looked into The Real Real but the rates are horrific. Your payout is based on how much you sell, which is absurd.

It seems this service is available only in the San Francisco area.

I don't know any consignment shops that allow this? Secondi donates it if it doesn't sell.

A lot can depend on who is on duty when you bring in the clothes - I've had one person reject items and the person working the counter two days later takes them. Some really adhere to "designer" only, even if they have mid-range on the racks. I've had the most consistent success with Reddz in Bethesda.

Are these designer pieces or mid range brands?

I always had good luck consigning at the 14th St Current Boutique (but not the Clarendon or Old Town locations). Reddz in Bethesda was decent too - they’re pretty picky but I’d say still took 1/3 of the items I’d bring in. You can choose cash or a gift card to get paid right away vs Current Boutique is traditional consignment where you only get $ if it sells (and you can’t “take it back” if it doesn’t)
