Sometimes teachers enter grades and then it takes overnight processing before gradebook updates. Student should check with the teacher first opportunity tomorrow.

We have had instances in which student has reminded teacher multiple times and mistakes persisted. They have 150 students, so writing an email can be a good approach.

It’s quite possible the teacher is extremely busy. Perhaps patience is in order.

But teachers often forget. This happens frequently with my child where the teacher says they will do it and it never gets done. Its happened with multiple different teachers.

As a high school teacher who is pushing through to finish grades for the first quarter, I would say let the teacher get to it when the get to it. It is a reassessment, and that is going to wait until the bigger tasks get done. I know everyone gets anxious about grades and want instant updates, but it's time to learn some patience. If the teacher has been pretty consistent about keeping grades updated, then trust that they'll get to it. Also, if your student insists on checking in again tomorrow, do it during class. Do not have the student interrupt the teacher during their planning period. Also, if you email the teacher over the weekend, don't expect a reply until the work week starts again.

+1. This is a reassessment. There are other original assignment grades that teachers have to keep up with including assignments that come in late. Wait to see if it shows up by Sunday.

Op here- he checked in with her verbally, two different times-- she told him she would eventually get to it.

Why email at all? Why doesn’t the kid talk to the teacher in person?

OP some teachers are more organized than others. You should help your son draft an email to the teacher that says, Dear Mr. Teacher, with the end of the quarter coming up, I wanted to make sure you didn't forget about the Industrial Revolution test I re-took and the labor movement assignment I resubmitted. Is there a reason your son hasn’t checked in with the teacher himself? Doesn’t he see the teacher every day in class?

First off, which school does your son go to? Knowing the school will help us tell you what is or isn't normal.

Second of all, if your son re-submitted something a few weeks back, you should have your son (not you) follow up with her via email. Teachers want kids to advocate for themselves by high school, not parents. And you need to teach your son how to be responsible for his own work.
