Clemson, spent a lot of time at both schools and wake is not as fun, not as much money coming into the school from donors and the bar scene at Clemson is much better. Wake is more academic but the alumni is much smaller and not as active as Clemson

The sports stadium and arena at wake are not on campus which is a huge thing.

We really liked both - Wake felt "safe" in terms of not that different from my DD's high school experience and the academics are top notch. We loved Clemson's small town and the lake but it's definitely a bigger, public university. Pros and cons to both. But I have heard that Greek life is actually more predominate at Wake than Clemson for what it's worth.

The above is true. Wake more of a country club vibe but also more academic. Clemson more rah rah but very southern. I wouldn't do it.

They are not "vastly" different. The hyperbole is not helpful.

Wake's Greek system may be smaller but only because there are fewer students. Overall, it has a larger impact on the tone of the campus than does the Greek system at Clemson.

Clemson's vibe is not "much more" Southern; in fact the two are comparable in that category. Anyone who experiences a "culture shock" at either of these schools is too immature to be in college.

Some of you love the over-the-top language, but it's not a positive in your writing style or helping with questions like this.

Wake feels like a country club, and during DD's tour last month, the admissions rep spent about 120 seconds on academics and 48 minutes on everything else. Clemson is a mix of out of state, wealthier, good students and a broader array of SC students. If your DS wants to study engineering or hard sciences, then Clemson is better. If he comes from a private school and wants a beautiful setting with beautiful students, not many locals, and liberal arts, then Wake is the place. My DD loved both.

ACC sucks

For all the yakking about diversity and inclusion, Clemson puts skin in the game. The ClemsonLife program is just fantastic.

Clemson. Better setting and more socio-economic diversity. Fun school with lots of majors.

Other state's public school, other state's problems. Housing problems, registering for classes problems, state legislature budget cuts problems, high school drama problems, you name it. Wake is private, go for Wake.

Clemson has gotten much more competitive but Wake is more academic and remains a more difficult admit.
