That’s essentially Option A, but with the SLHS portion of Floris sent to KAA. I envision that will be the compromise unless Crossfield pushes for Option B.

FCPS has published the western high school boundary map, with four options, summarized below
Option A, Lutes, McNair, Floris, Oak Hill, Crossfield,
Option B, Lutes, McNair, Floris, Oak Hill, Fox Mill
Option C, Lutes, McNair, half of Floris, Oak Hill, Fox Mill, Crossfield (minus Navy exclave around Nestlewood Dr)
Option D, Lutes, McNair, half of Floris, Oak Hill, Fox Mill, Crossfield (including Nestlewood Dr).
I feel option C and D with half of Floris doesn't fly. The residents in Discovery Square literally live across the street from the WHS won't go there? Floris being a split feeder?
The real choice is between A and B, whether Fox Mill or Crossfield being transferred to the Western High School.
Thoughts? Please no discussion of the magnet school BS. Limit to boundaries.
I understand why you said C and D don’t fly, but I won’t rule them out.
At this stage, it’s all about community input (in other words, politicking and lobbying). If Discovery Square people don’t want to go to the new school (or do not actively communicate to the board even if they want to go to the new school), then the board may choose option C or D.
In fact, options C and D are more likely than options A and B in my opinion since Reid and her team presented two options virtually for the same idea.
The big advantage for C and D in terms of board politics is that these options offer relief to BOTH Oakton and SLHS, while options A and B offer relief to EITHER Oakton or SLHS.
They spent a lot of money for buying this school. I imagine that they would advertise this as a big win for the county that provides releif to many high schools.
