My prediction is that the shutdown ends very quickly after Election Day. Neither side can end it before without looking like they're caving. Or something.

Congress should not be paid. This is insane. If I failed to do my job to the point the company shut down, I’d be either working around the clock to fix things or be immediately fired. I’m over all of them. And am calling my democratic representatives to tell them to just let people FAFO with the health care issue.

Like crickets from your boss and co-workers? In my case, no. I'm a supervisor and we are directed to keep in touch at least once a week.

OP here, I’m an acting exec at the moment who is furloughed, as is my entire staff, and I’ve heard absolutely nothing from my next level exec nor been given any direction to communicate with my employees, though I have texted them of my own accord just to check in.

There is no point in opening the government when he can fund things from the Executive branch. Checks and balances died with the Supreme Court and the only thing that will bring it back is a Black Swan event.

Neither side seems anywhere close to coming to an agreement. The only thing up for discussion now is paying workers before the shutdown is over.
