Yeah, we need to know what “deep cleaning” means. Before we moved into our house, we had a cleaning crew come and clean every single surface everywhere — not just the normal stuff, but every shelf, the entire insides of all drawers, cupboards, cabinets, the oven, and two refrigerators, the light fixtures, ceiling fans, every slat in the blinds, everything. It was a lot more labor than a regular cleaning, so 3 times the normal price would be in line with the work.

This is for a small/medium (under 2k sq ft) 4 bedroom (but they'd only have to do 3 of them), 3 bath house with small finished basement. It definitely need cleaned, but it's by no means filthy. The regular monthly rate of $200 seems fine to me, but the initial visit will be $600. Is that average for within DC?

I have paid for two deep cleans in the past two years on ramblers that were about 2000 sq ft. Both cost between 500 and $600 before tip. You have to pay a lot more for a deep clean.

" before tip"

LOL. You don't tip cleaners unless you are a fool. Cleaners never declare their earnings so that $200 is really $300 and that $600 is really $800.

OP, I run a 650 unit property management company. Do not pay more than $350. And go with cleaners that have insurance (ask for the COI) and have been around for at least 10 years.

It means they think it will take 3x as long.

The issue is that many will not actually do a deep clean despite charging you for one. Ask me how I know.

If they really do a DEEP DEEP clean that take hours, it's not crazy. Like if toilet bowls haven't been cleaned, ovens have build up and they scrub them it's worth it. We've always paid double or a little more.

$200 is for a “normal” clean. Idk what you mean by “deep” clean so I can’t judge.

That is jacked price, OP. Especially if they are illegals.

"Deep cleaning" is just a trend/scam for OCD types of shutins and such.

Just clean your own sty.

Yes, this was following a visit to provide the estimate.

Thanks for the gut check, it seemed nuts to me but I didn't have the basis for comparison. -OP

Insane. I have 6000 sq feet and she said 300. I had one guy tell me $900. I told him to GTFU.

$600 is crazy for an initial visit. $200 seems normal, and I'd be fine with double for an initial visit (after all, you're only going to pay it once) but triple seems ludicrous.
