It could be a potential safety concern (drowning hazard) if the tub in the master is a deep soaking tub rather than the shallow tub typically installed in most second bathrooms.

We looked at a house with 5 full bathrooms and zero had tubs! Didn’t like that. Wouldn’t be a problem for some families though. And could always renovate a couple if it was the right house otherwise.

It would be a turnoff for us - our kids took baths for a long time before taking showers. Prefer tub in shared kids bathroom and large double-shower in main bathroom for parents.

Not a problem. The little kid bath years are relatively short and you only need one tub in the house.

I'll be an outlier then and say it would bother me. I'd rather the only bath be in one of the kids' rooms than in the master. We're fine with showers.

I have little kids and I’d be fine with this.

I think it's an advantage, actually. I'm perfectly happy to bathe little kids in my bathtub and switch them to their own shower once they're old enough. Then I get the bathtub for myself!

If the hall bath has room to switch to a tub then I'd be fine w/ that. If it's too tight for a tub then that's a turn off.

Yeah as long as there is one tub it doesn’t matter to me where it is— could see pros/cons either way.

This wouldn't bother me at all and I would prefer it to the reverse (hall bath with shower and tub, master with shower only). When kids are little it's no big deal to bring them to your bathroom for baths and sometimes it's even more convenient (can be easier to supervise older kids in the bath from the master bedroom). My kids were showering (with some supervision) by 5, so at that point I'd move them to the hallway bathroom.

For me the fact that there is a bathtub in the master would be a huge selling point because I am a bath person and it's so much nicer to take a bath in a more private bathroom than in the hall bath.

It wouldn’t be for me. My young kids always came to the master anyways.

Would this be turnoff for families with young kids? Wondering if this would effect resale value much if we buy a home that has only a shower in the hall bath but both tub and shower in the master bath.
