Same - it checked every box and I thought would be top of dd’s list. We skipped out halfway through the tour. Great school, but presented itself as more preprofessional and less intellectual than she was looking for. As I hear they are skimpy with FA I was glad to drop it too.

Unhelpful. You loved it or hated it? Why? If you can't complete the assignment, don't bother to respond.

Thought BU might be a good fit for my kid but they were overwhelmed and turned off by the it’s urban nature. Good thing they figured that out early and then targeted schools that weren’t quite as urban.

Meredith in NC - women’s college, but right down the road from NC State. Lovely campus. My daughter didn’t think she’d like a women’s school, but she really liked it there.

Randolph - tiny school, But it is a lovely, warm campus. The people were so kind. The president herself was on the Facebook parents page to hear concerns and respond quickly. In hindsight, I wish my daughter had chosen this school. The Take2 model might have worked better for her.

Radford - adorable campus with some impressive facilities. The student rec center was one of the nicest we saw. The new arts building is gorgeous. The surrounding area is…not great. That said, it isn’t far from VT and the current Prez has worked to have some partnerships between schools. There is a Radford section at VT home games.

ODU - we went to the open house a couple years ago. They put on a good show, honestly. It was fun and well organized. We liked the campus a lot and the students were so kind. The gym facility was nice - it was in the same building with the exercise science and PT departments. It is a shame people overlook this one. The Norfolk/VA Beach area has way more to do than the mountains.

Was going to say the same about Radford.

My kid is a freshman at UVM too and it has exceeded our expectations, especially in how accessible professors are. Introductory math and science classes are smaller and more participatory/less lecture-y than we expected too.

Oberlin: I thought my daughter, who’s interested in liberal arts and music, would like it and I loved it, but she felt very “meh” and crossed it off the list. I think she wasn’t sold on the idea of going to college in Ohio.

Did not like RPI. On paper it checked all our boxes, but DC was really turned off by the campus (and Troy).

Really liked Clarkson. One of the best, most welcoming tours and the students were so friendly -- DC was invited to dinner and ended up spending the whole evening with one of the tour guides. Wasn't a top choice because of location, but it came close.

Really liked WPI, despite Worcester not being the nicest city. Strong campus feel and the IQP and ability to go abroad is really unique among engineering schools.

It's a very good school with a great campus, and Athens is a very fun town. Their honors program is top-notch, too.

Disliked BC. The admissions presentation wasn’t a presentation, just an hour where 200 people had the opportunity to randomly ask questions that only mattered to them.

Left feeling like BC’s perspective was “if you feel like you deserve a presentation on what makes us interesting or unique we are too good for you.” Blech.

Carnegie Melon--felt so joyless. It was fall break and so many kids were still there. I felt sorry for them. I had visions of something more inspiring. I mean, Lenny and Squiggy went there.

Clemson--DD fell in love with it. It's not a particularly pretty campus, but everyone seemed so happy. Funny how the feel can overtake the visual.

Brown - we didn’t like it.

Wesleyan. Assumed it would be too woke for dc, but dc loved it
