Hire a certified radon mitigation contractor to install a fan on your existing pipe — that will safely lower your radon below EPA levels without needing to access the attic yourself.

I recently used radonone.net and the guy was outstanding. He was the top rated person on yelp. He said passive systems like the one you have are code in my county. He did the job (installing fan in attic and vacuum monitor in basement plus sealing sump cover) in 2 hours and my radon levels went from 8 to 0.6.

Not in your area, but when I had the same situation a few years ago (just outside the warranty window), I requested the contact info for the builder/developer’s vendor who installed the pipe, and paid them (directly) to finish setting up the system. They were efficient and their pricing was lower than local companies focused on upselling/complete system installation.

New home, builder has put in “passive” 3” pvc pipe from sump through the roof. Just rant basement radon test. Came is at 4.80, just above the epa limit so I better put in a pump. Basement is finished and we use it quite a bit. Problem is the attic is very inaccessible so will need a contractor to find solution. We are in Fairfax. Are you able to recommend a good contractor to do this?
