We were looking at the bambini in mount vernon. Could you share your concerns? I saw there was a child abuse incident at navy yard.

Check out ToTH Montessori in Navy Yard: www.tothmontessori.org

It’s a small, woman-owned business and my child attended for 5 years for toddler and primary. Teachers are amazing, low turnover, organized admin, and great parent community. Spanish exposure but not immersion.

This was 10 years ago but we had a great experience at the Thurgood Marshall Center next to Union Station. I think people like the STEM daycare next to Trader Joe’s, and there is a new daycare on Penn Ave and 6th and also another one further down Penn Ave (maybe 10th).

Look into Chisholm (near Barracks Row) for DCPS Spanish immersion. Depends on how close you are to PK3, though. They'll be undergoing a building modernization (meaning busses / you drive to a temporary school off Benning road). That said, it might hit a lot of marks for you and seems to be popular with Hill Bambini grads.

We've been at bambini since infant class and planned to stay through the 2027-28 school year. Love the teachers but mentally preparing to let go. Now anticipating leaving much sooner because of the new management that has already led to teacher turnover and other stress. Maybe it's idealistic but its getting icky to hand over precious tuition money to help make rich people richer while teachers will likely get the bare minimum. Unless the company does something that's drastically different from the recent tone, I don't see how we'd want to stay when there are other options that are up to $1k cheaper. Including free PK3.

Looking for info, advice, suggestions on:

– Other centers near the Hill not owned by jerks and their rates.
– Where to consider for pk3 lottery if we are on the Hill? We are in bounds for Maury which I'm told is highly unlikely.
– Recommendations of other ways in the city to continue some level of Spanish exposure/learning even if we leave the daily immersion.
– Any thoughts from other concerned Bambini parents about sticking it out. What's your red line.
