This only works if there are people on the other side who also believe these principles and negotiate in good faith + have the power and will to insist on it. In other words (since those folks don’t exist), your point of view leads you to arguing with the only other reasonable people in the room - other democrats - about things that honestly do not affect 95% of the people, like trans rights.
