Our it sounds like they are doing what a responsible school would do and have control over school social media. The club is an extension of the school.

Sounds like at least one club (more?) is not representing their school very well on SM and the admin has to rein them in. What kind of content have they been posting?

As comments can venture into bullying, I can see why a private would prefer total control over social media accounts.

Other reasons:

Privacy concerns for students, teachers and staff.

Safety concerns about images showing the school layout or other security protocol.

Images that may seem fine to students, but may be easily viewed as inappropriate when taken out of context.

Students organizations taking advantage of the current policy and posting questionable content.

Complete troll. All girls know the “nerd clubs” are needed for college and would never classify them this way. Not a single girl shames anyone for being smart and driven.

I’m sure the OP is a troll but still, it’s crazy to not let kids have Instagram pages for their clubs. Trying to hard to manage the schools image, just makes it more sterile.

Golly. What a loaded post. It has to be a troll. But assuming it's true, I am not surprised a school would want to ensure some degree of control over a club's social media as the club is an extension of the school.

Incidentally, I've recently noticed a new trend away from students' full names on social media to just the first name and an initial for the last name, like "Mary S. or John B." Seems like schools are getting very sensitive around social media and public announcements involving kids.

My daughter is very upset that her clubs are going to be posted right next to all the nerd clubs. Frankly, I think that Holton is trying too hard to control its public image and should let the girls be girls.
