Not really. Overwhelmed by the party scene, thinks classes are easy (after attending a rigorous private but the college doesn’t take APs, so basically retaking the equivalent of AP Calc and AP Chem, which he aced the first time). Too much free time after being constantly busy in high school. A friend group and a job would fix a lot of his problems! I’m worried and even a little sad for him but have to just wait and see.

First year/freshman and yes seems to be happy on all fronts (other than has spent too much money so now looking for a job to get back on his financial feet so a little stressed about that.) However from FB parent group I see that’s lots of kids still having a hard time with this big transition and I think that’s a very common experience too.

Not really.

They are still really homesick, were pretty physically ill for two weeks, and feel like they are nonstop busy. They wish they had a "group" and are stressed by everyone already looking for off-campus housing for next year.

On the plus side, they are doing well in classes, have made some friends, and joined a few clubs.

Yes!
She chose to go to uni in the UK. She’s spending this week (a reading week) in Florence & Rome. What’s not to love?!

My senior is living his best life after hating most of his freshman year. So yes he is enjoying college very much.

My freshman is enjoying it more than I thought he would, honestly. He is the anxious homebody. After some bumps he has adjusted very well and even broke up with the girlfriend he left at home (thank goodness.)

Yes they are (two kids in right now). Autonomy, studying what interests them instead of prescribed courses, dynamic campus, better vibes than the DC area. Other than visits I doubt they will ever move back, and I am glad for that.

Kid is happy, working hard, making friends, eating well, loving college life. Such a relief after grinding junior and senior years of HS. She misses home and her best friend of 13 years, but overall it’s been a good transition.

Yes, likes it a lot better than high school, but it’s still “school.” Great transition!
