Anonymous wrote:My only advice to you ( I realize you didn't ask) is that if you feel a school is the right "fit" for your family during these initial open houses, attend absolutely everything offered by that school during the admission process. In the end, most people apply to a lot of schools and get into a couple. You are not going to have a plethora of choices. Showing genuine interest in your top choices will help.

And it shouldn't just be "the allegedly most prestigious schools." It is very hard to do when your kid is that young because it is hard to evaluate who they are. But for your own sanity, try. I know your intentions are good but asking a very vague question like that to a message board without any details at all is not going to get you useful answers.
I meant in the admissions process. Apologies it was a vague question. It was a bad attempt at starting a conversation if there is anyone applying to kindergarten reading this forum.
OP, what schools have you liked thus far?

We just started our tours (looking at boys schools, city co-ed, and hill schools) and there are so many events for each school. I met some really nice parents at an open house, but haven’t connected with any tour guides and I don’t know how much to read into that.
Anyone else?
Why would you expect to connect with your guides? Are you expecting “we want you” vibe from these tours?
Exactly. Who even are the guides? We applied to private for high school. So guides were current students so actually added some value as they could tell us about a school and gave us a peak into the personality of the school. Unless they are truly awful, which questions the judgement of the school in choosing them, the guide shouldn't matter much.
