If there was an after party for 9th graders, my kid was not invited (thank god!). His school had a pre-party dinner for all of the 9th graders and it was a blast. My 11th grader (same school) got together with 20+ kids for a laser tag after party. They had a great time.

I'm having a hard time trusting other parents these days.

There was drinking and gummies at the one my kid attended. He told me the next day when I pressed why he wanted to come home early.

The same thing happened at St. Andrew's when my child was a freshman. The kids had alcohol in the basement and the parents ignored the whole thing.

I know people who let their kids stay out until 3:00am party hopping.

It’s very common in our 2 privates (kids at different high schools). After parties freshman year surprised me too. One of my DC passed and went out with a big group for ice cream instead.

My kid wasn’t invited and is clueless if there were. Our school did an on campus dinner for the ninth graders which was a really nice way to make sure kids felt included and everyone had a pre-dance something to do. Afterward, I’m sure there were a couple parties. It’s HS.

Is this common? My DC is going to 2 homecoming dances this year and both have planned after parties for the freshmen. I can’t remember house parties for freshmen in my HS days but maybe I’m wrong?
