I've got an almost 7 year old and we do strength training together in our home gym 3 days a week. It's all body weight and swedish ladder exercises and flexibility. Lots of core and back exercises. They index toward low muscle tone but like sports so I just starting doing this with them about 6 months ago because I found the group classes available for kids their age to be pretty bad - waste of commuting time and too much money for what we got out of them.

I put a small inflatable bouncy castle in my basement when my kids were that age. Even after a morning outdoors at the park, they still had energy to burn. Bouncy castle with a slide and those plastic balls (plus soft soccer balls) gave them hours of entertainment.

I’d say sign up for Lifetime and take your kid to the child center there. It’s structured and they have activities for the kids. You get 2.5 hours a day and also can do parents night out every week. win-win for all of you

My 9 yo goes to the Y with me to train during off-season. We use ropes, kettle bells, free weights and the cardio equipment and the indoor track. The season ends November 2, so we will be at the Y until Spring to maintain fitness levels.

How about a parkour gym? Or like ninja classes. Several of the gymnastics studios near us off these

If you're looking to skew more exercise than play, you could try a climbing gym. You've got several options in NoVa with Movement, Sportrock and Vertical Rock.

St James in Springfield has an indoor playground called Super, Awesome, and Amazing. My 8 year old loves it.

OP here. Sorry, should’ve added we are in northern Virginia. Preferably McLean/Vienna/Falls Church area but would drive up to 10ish miles.

Why not an outdoor playground? Bundle up and go.

Where do you live? I'm not recommending something in Oxon Hill when you live in Gaithersburg.

Hello everyone. I’m looking for an indoor workout place (preferably with structure so it’s more like a class environment) for my 7 year old especially as the weather gets colder. He’s too old for My Gym but something like that geared towards older kids would be great. Open to other ideas as well. He’s doing sports classes here and there but they’re only for 45 minutes, once a week. Need something to keep him active and not sitting on the couch watching TV.
