At Springbrook, they're making 9th graders take a "mock" PSAT, which is obviously not the real PSAT. Don't know why they can't just provide the real 9th grade PSAT.

At BCC, morning classes are cancelled, but afternoon classes are scheduled.

My 10th grader said that teachers for the afternoon classes were told not to teach new stuff. She's talking the PSAT and coming home afterwards, since the only afternoon class she cares about missing is math, and the teacher posts daily videos of the class, so she can watch it at home if she wants. I trust her, she's a straight A student taking challenging coursework.

The school buses will run on a normal schedule, so if your kid depends on a bus and wants to attend some of the classes, they need to stick to the usual schedule.

Those not taking the PSAT will have other rooms to stay in, and maybe some activities and SSL hours to earn. Or they can stay home!

I wish someone had told me this when my oldest child was in high school:

Students not taking the PSAT don’t need to go to school that day.

Write them a note and let them stay home.

Even in the afternoon abbreviated classes teachers are not supposed to introduce any new material. The morning consists of little presentations or sitting in a homeroom.

Write them a note and let them stay home if they’re all caught up with work.

At our school, 9th graders take a mock ACT in the morning. Are you certain he doesn’t have that?

At RM, most kids not taking the PSAT just show up after lunch. The ones who take the bus and have no way to get to school for just the afternoon sit around that morning and are encouraged to work on pending school work / homework, but mostly they play on their phones for half a day.

If your high schooler isn’t taking the PSAT, are you still sending them to school?
