It would be the contrast, but the doctor should have explained that.

That sounds a lot like the contrast dye - they always warn me of a salty or metallic taste in my mouth while they inject me

I have to get fairly regular MRIs since I had breast cancer. The contrast can sometimes do weird things. Once it made me feel hot. Once it made me feel cold. Once I got a metallic taste in my mouth. Usually it does nothing. I have no idea why I have had different experiences, but I am sure it was caused by the contrast.

Did you have contrast?

I had a brain MRI about 6 years ago due to headaches and need to have another one in a few weeks. I have two metal fillings in molars from 20+ years ago and was told they are fine and would not be an issue. That said, during the MRI I had a weird and uncomfortable sensation in my mouth and am convinced it’s from those fillings. It was like a hit pulsing sensation on and off and I definitely had a metallic taste in my mouth. It was not extremely painful, just uncomfortable.

I told my doctor and he didn’t seem to care and said it couldn’t be the fillings. So I am just curious if anyone else with metal fillings has had an MRI and whether you felt anything or not.
