For VP and above, not so unusual.

I work in fintech. I've been applying for experienced analyst and manager roles. One famous or popular fintech closed the requisition after a few days and took a little over a month to schedule a phone screen. They told me that the process would consist of a hiring manager interview, a case study, 3 separate peer interviews, and an executive round. I honestly lost interest during the peer round, the process was incredibly long(45-60 minutes each) and I honestly couldn't vibe with the team. Even if I did, I don't think I would accept the role. I'm in the interview process now for another role and I'm almost a month in. I have one interview left, this one has gone a lot smoother. I really don't know why interviewing is this intense, especially for roles that aren't high level.

They are stalling. Probably do not have the budget yet.

I applied my one job and took three months. Really annoying as applied Dec 10 2020 and hired March 15 2021 and I was laid off 12-31-2020 so I was unemployed and it still did not speed up.

The current job at same senior level. One HR screen they asked me to come in person and interview with CEO and Head of HR and got offer same day. Three days from application.

And that time I had a current job and was trying to stall a bit as I applied a few weeks before bonus pay out. You never know.

I think its normal especially the climate, 2 years ago, I have about 5 rounds. I think we've been in a recession for 2 years.

started interviewing in October, finally got a "conditional offer" the following march. They wanted me to start once they had a new client and the offer was only valid for a month. Good news is that the client work came in within 2 weeks and they wanted me to officially start but I had found another jobs and told them thanks but no thanks

also remember the recrruiter is trying to keep their job, so they may string you along while they look for even better candidates given how many are looking.

I applied for a director level job in Sept. 2024 and went through two interviews. Just received a verbal offer last week, and they're checking references now. I'm assuming the official offer won't come until November.

State government agency, internal applicant.

For my senior non profit job, I had about that many interviews and we have less than 30 employees! I think they just want to confirm you’re right for the job.

It sounds like the private sector is as bad as government hiring timing.

I think it’s increasingly common. It’s hard to fire people, so employers are very cautious. It’s ridiculous but it’s the world we live in.

Stick with it and best wishes!

How long is the longest you’ve seen from job posting to job hire? I’m in process right now, on round 5 counting interviews with the recruiters and they just told me it’ll be 2 more rounds with the company, aiming to make a hire end of November. I applied in July. Is this normal for senior/exec level positions? I want this job so sticking with it, but feel so exhausted by this process….
