If it's a witch hunt you will be burned at the stake. It's not a legitimate investigation. Any rights you have will be yours to regain years down the road, if you're lucky. Proceeds accordingly. PP at 15:37 is right.

In the meantime, resume updated and I have a solid opportunity waiting for me in the private sector, which is appealing as I am very much reticent now to step back into the toxicity that is all encompassing at my agency.

What am I not considering? 22 years fed, should have taken VERA but opted not to, big regret. What advice do you have? TIA.

If you think those in charge will accept the findings of the investigation that are beneficial to you, then stay. If the results won't matter, take the other job.

I’d at least have my attorney propose a settlement with you getting to take VERA and leave vice walking away short of retirement.

I would go now with solid opportunity and don't look back. You don't know that you will be found blameless. This is not a normal time and your legal rights may be ignored.

i'm not sure you can get DSR if fired; they are hoping you will just leave so they don't have to start paying out pension.
