There is insufficient information to determine whether it should pass. Most communities don’t even know about this plan, which is most concerning for DCC because they don’t even know MCPS is trying to dismantle it.

All affected communities have no been given a chance to give meaningful voice regarding the plan.

MCPS is still collecting data, there is no staff, transportation, or cost analysis—this all cannot be slapped together by December. They obviously need to broaden their timeline.

They can't pick and choose what they fund and they actually do have to fund MCPS due to the maintenance of effort law. They do not get to go line item by line item

Ordinarily I would say the Board would just go along despite all of this-- but Yang has always been at least a little independently-minded (not hugely so but it's something) and is running for County Council so maybe there's a chance.

Yang gives the apperance of being independent but if you look at her voting record, its always voting with the majority or MCPS.

I don't think they understand the differences between the schools. Ideal is for all students to go to their home school, but the home schools are in no way equal and that's an issue for all kids, in particular the more advanced students. The reason why families like the DCC is that you have the possibility if you understand what's going on and can make it work to lottery into another school. With the new plan, the only option is to COSA.

Most, not all, of the county council live in the W or BCC zones where their kids have enough offerings to keep them challenged and competative.

Definitely the latter one. Essie McGuire was repeatedly talking about "foundation" where I think herself got loss in her logic.

Was "this" specifically 6 region model or Boundary Study? MCPS thinks they are the same.

Note that at least among the councilmembers at the committee session I didn't hear anyone saying they should keep the DCC. In fact the ones I heard mention it do not think it should continue or be replicated. I think overall they think kids should go to their home schools as much as possible.
