I agree. The school should install mics and cameras on uniforms (perhaps on the newly required jackets) so that all student behavior and communication is monitored and recorded.

This isn’t parents’ responsibility. The school should stop being distracted by this silly “teaching” fad and focus again on its traditional, core responsibility to surveil students.

What DC had wrote that a class project was so irritating that it made her want to kill herself. Not the best expression, but there is no suicidal ideation. That being said, I was grateful that the message was flagged.

I get it, PP. Irritating to deal with in the moment, but I'm impressed the phrase was flagged! I think it's a great concept.

OPT Out.

They are selling all your info why do you not see an issue?

Schools typically do not allow students to opt out of monitoring software on school-provided devices.

FCPS uses Lightspeed, so good luck finding a school where this sort of thing isn't happening, other than a bring-your-own-device school. And even there they get to/have to monitor the network traffic.

Their computer, their monitoring software.

This. If your 10 year old wants to watch porn or search for bomb-making tutorials, tell him to use his own iPad.

This. Although in the case of St. Mary's, no doubt it's to catch illicit talk about the honor roll.

You don’t get to opt out of programs on the school chromebooks. That’s not how it works.

It’s obviously a surveillance tool. Google it.

Do other Catholic schools use it? Is it basically a surveillance tool?
