Probably, but the 8th graders this year still need to rank their choices and they will be allowed to stay on at whichever school they are assigned to for next year.

Isn't DCC going to be dissolved pretty soon?

There was a study on this ten or so years ago, and at the time 74% of students received their first choice school. I don't think they've published anything since.

I've never heard anyone be able to actually quantify the chances.. it's a lottery so I guess just manage your expectations. Anecdotally, two years ago my child got their third choice (home school was ranked 4th, for a number of reasons), in the first round of the lottery, and didn't submit for the second round b/c they ended up getting into a program. But we know other people who got their first or second choice.

Is there any information on percentage of students that receive first choice, second choice, etc for DCC high school preferences? There is so much data available in DC that doesn't seem to be widely accessible in MOCO, I'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around the likelihood of some of these scenarios.

In the absence of real data, I'd love to hear anecdotal experiences with what preference # your child was assigned to.
