https://admission.stanford.edu/apply/first-year/testing.html

“ACT or SAT scores are required for first-year and transfer students.

AP/IB/A-Levels:

AP exams are not mandatory; however, if you have taken any AP exams, you are required to self-report all your AP scores in your application.

Students currently enrolled in an IB Diploma program outside the U.S. are required to have a school official send us their predicted IB marks (including TOK/essay bonus points).”

It’s meaningless, there’s no way to enforce the reporting, scores can be permanently deleted. Verifican happens in the fall for official scores. Only thing is, if you took the AP class and don’t send the score, they’ll assume the worst.

According to their FAQs, they expect you to take the exam and report the score if you'vr taken the class. Your only way out is if you don't take the exam, but they expect that to happen only when "circumstances prevent" it and you have to explain that on your application.

Doesn't sound meaningless to me unless you flat out lie.

Or they’re trying to dodge the Trump compact.

Top schools returned to requiring tests long before the "compact" was a thing.

High school grade inflation and selectively submitting AP scores are the issues. Schools have enough data and “rigor” doesn’t mean just taking the AP class and getting an A in the class. It has to be validated with a 5 in the AP exam. Most of the kids who doesn’t get a 4 or 5 are the ones struggling in chem, calc, physics in college … weed out classes.

This is misleading. At Yale, you have to submit all APs scores ONLY if you're submitting APs instead of SAT or ACT. It's test flexible. If you're submitting a test score, you can submit any AP you want. Or not

Yale's Test-Flexible Policy
Yale requires all first-year and transfer applicants to submit standardized test scores. Applicants choose which scores to include from four options:

ACT
Advanced Placement (AP)
International Baccalaureate (IB)
SAT

Applicants who choose to meet the requirement with AP or IB scores should include results from all subject exams completed prior to applying. Applicants who choose to meet the requirement with ACT or SAT scores may also include any AP or IB scores of their choosing.

yes they will all move in this direction. they don't just want to AP score for one or two subjects. they want to see what you get from SAT/ACT - a mix of stem and humanities not just a bunch of stem scores or a bunch of humanities scores.
