I had that for a while in peri. Went away for the first year of menopause and now is back. First make sure you don’t have a UTI, if you haven’t yet. And then perhaps consider pelvic floor therapy.

OP sounds like you have a UTI. You can get mild ones that present just as you are describing. Go see your PCP.

Yes, technically all are hormone replacement, but vaginal estrogen is not systemic, so I think most people are referring to systemic estrogen, progesterone, and sometimes testosterone when referring to HRT.

Vaginal estrogen added to my other HRT (estrogen patch and oral progesterone) has been helpful with urgency and leaking for me, age 51. I had been on the other stuff for over a year, but adding the vag est has been really helpful.

Up in the night to pee, and recurring UTIs. Meeting with my gyn later this month and asking for vaginal estrogen

Urgent continence that got worse as peri progressed. At the very end, there were a couple times when I literally peed in my pants and had to change clothes (thankfully I was home).

Solution is to do Kegels and also pelvic floor work like deep breathing (what you would do if you went to pelvic floor therapy after having a baby). That stuff helps to some degree.

If that’s not enough, estrogen, either systematic or vaginal, will take care of it.

I haven't noticed any change, but maybe it's because I'm only 45. I can hold my bladder like there's no tomorrow.

i pee way more. esp at night.

In the day or two before my period I pee nearly constantly. Like cannot sleep because I need to get up 20+ times per night. Any other night, I only need to get up 1x a night.
