I'm a teacher who has to rush out at the end of my contracted time so I can make it to my second job on time.

Kid makes up the work at home or with a hired tutor. Teacher may have other responsibilities outside of contract hours. They don't owe your kid their time for free.

Teachers who run clubs after school are paid to stay longer. The others aren’t. So you are asking them to work for free.

Get a tutor !!!!!!

Sorry you feel that way. I think the ire is towards schools and school boards, not usually teachers. I think teachers and parents are usually on the same side.

Op why can’t your kid make up work at home? Our teachers have their own lives. One of them has kids of her own that she needs to pickup.

Your kid should be going during the "study hall" period that happens every other day. If that isn't enough - maybe see if the teacher comes in earlier and would be willing to meet then?

Test make-ups I think happen routinely. If he's making up other work, why does it need to be with the actual teacher vs. at home?

Why do you expect the teacher to stay outside of contract hours? The school cannot make the teacher stay. Your child should use the time that is available during the school day.

Late bus is for activities and teachers aren't obligated to work for free after hours. Your son needs to work out another time to meet. Depending on why your son needs to make up work (extended illness vs just didn't do it), the teacher might not be very sympathetic.

Why does he need to make up work? His/your decision to miss school doesn't obligate the teacher to stay past contract hours.

After school busses are for clubs and the like.

My kid has a period where he can go and meet with Teachers for help, I think the classroom he goes to during that period changes so that the kids actually have an assigned time to meet with the teacher. There might be a homework help group after school with different teachers who can help.

Can't your kid meet with the teacher during advisory/flex?

1) Teachers can't be required to stay after contract hours. Does your school have some sort of remediation time where your child can meet with the teacher?

2) Does your child just need to make up work or does he need help with understanding? If it's just making up the work, he doesn't need to sit with the teacher to do that.
