There's a really great episode of Dr. Kelly Casperson's podcast "You Are Not Broken" where she interviews a dermatologist specializing in hair loss. The episode is called Hair, Hair, Hair and it's worth a listen to hear about all of the science-backed treatment options. I noticed a lot of hair thinning at 47 and I went on HRT (for other reasons) and was pleasantly surprised that after about 6 months I noticed a lot of regrowth. I'm now about a year in and my hair is back to it's normal thickness and I'm continuing to notice regrowth along my hairline.

Don't listen to this person. The science says hair can come back if it hasn't been lost for more than 10 years. Take the minoxidil - you won't end up worse than where you are now.

NP. I definitely think OP should try it, but just to note that I couldn’t handle minoxidil - it gave me really bad heart palpitations.

I have used topical minoxidil for almost 10 years. It’s really no big deal to use something every day. I keep my hair on the shorter side. It’s always been extremely fine and barely ponytail worthy anyway

After 6 months, I have tons of baby hairs so it will likely be another 6 to 12 months before it looks thicker. I would also go see a dermatologist because you might have alopecia, which may need actual medication to get it to stop.

Which Nisoral shampoo do you use?

This was me 5 years ago, ditto the spironalactone rec. Being so oily during peri made my seb derm, rosacea, and acne act up, the androgen blocking properties of this med curb that

You could try aldactone (aka spironalactone) if it an oiliness and hormonal issue

I treat the Seb derm then scalp and hair just so dry and thinnning happening. I am so frustrated. Losing confidence over this and I have a prescription for oral minoxidil but have been hesitant to take it since I have heard the moment you go off, hair goes back to current state. Any recommendations?
