Folks are getting two things mixed up. There are the regular boxes for all grades that say "your child consistently receives enrichment in" mathematics and reading (mathematics has been there for years, reading is new this year.). Sounds like those boxes don't get a Yes or a N/A until the end of MP1.

Then for 4th and 5th grade there are boxes that say that your child is in a compressed math class and/or "Your child is enrolled in an enrichment
course", plus compacted math and/or enriched literacy named in the grading boxes as well. Those do appear on the interim report cards.

Master with your teacher and the team lead for your child’s grade. I would also advise having a meeting with the school’s Gifted Liaison and/or Principal who should be ensuring that enrichment is provided for those who qualify and those who exhibit they need it.

If your school has a PTA or Coordinator bring it up there also.

How can you conclude others are lying when you only have one data point from your own child, or a couple data points from your local school if you happen to be a teacher?

My 4th grader has two grades under "reading - overall" (comprehension and language), and has two more grades under "reading enriched-overall" (comprehension and language). There are other items that are not graded but the item names are essentially the same except one has an "enriched" at the end.

Are you trying to find out:
a) whether enrichment is assigned to your child; or
b) whether enrichment is happening in the classroom; or
c) whether other people are able to see every quarter whether your child is receiving enrichment?

Since c) is probably not of much use in MCPS structures, it seems to me that a) and b) are probably what is at stake, and the only way to answer those questions is to ask the teacher - not the school. The school _may_ be able to provide an explanation or a records check, but only the teacher can actually describe what they are able to do on the ground.

Bear in mind that the truthful answer may be somewhere between not much and nothing (that is how our own experience went, and we could tell without needing to discuss it). It is almost impossible at some schools, within current strictures, structures, and class sizes, to pull off anything consistent, sustained, and meaningful for enrichment while also meeting the legitimate needs of all other populations.

Do enrichment-level kids deserve to have enrichment? Of course. Is it logistically feasible? Maybe not, or at least not all the time. Is that a problem? That depends on your read on the situation and on your family. We just leaned into extracurriculars that ultimately became really important, while at the same time expecting DCs to do their best work with the curricula they had.

My fourth grader also has enrichment indicated and graded for ELA. So it may mean your child isn't receiving it yet.

Mine has 2 grades under ELA enrichment, which is separated from ELA. Mine is 4th grade, no acceleration ELA class at our school.

Ah, I misunderstood the question. I think they don't mark that until the end of the marking period. But if you have questions, it never hurts to reach out to your teacher to ask -- if you believe your child should be receiving enrichment and concerned they might not be.

Do they ever mark yes for enrichment on the first marking period interims or is that usually not until the first full marking period report card? Does anyone have a kid they know is getting some kind of regular enrichment this year, and if so, is it labeled on their interim report card (up now on ParentVue) or not?

Also, is the box for receiving enrichment in reading new? I don't remember that from last year, just the math one.
