We use wise to move USD to EUR. The exchange rate is terrible nowadays.

I used XE.com after an intense search for such a service, when I was purchasing a house abroad (in a country that Wise doesn't serve). I have made huge transfers and it always went well and mostly for no fee (I think it needs to be ACH or something for no fee). If you end up using it, here's my referral code: XEREF-B8HN72FU. This is my first time sharing a referral code. I didn't notice the existence of this code until recently and I have been singing the praises of this website and telling everyone who's looking for something like this. It says that we each get $50 once your friend has sent $5000 or more. I also hope it's not against DCUM rules.

By the way, at the time, I had looked into Wise and OFX also and this had the best exchange rates and relatively fewer hassle to deal with very large sums. For instance, my very first transfer was $50,000

Wise is still the best option. Did a transfer with them a few years ago from the UK and the fees were super reasonable.

I used to use Vanguard for one time bank wires of a couple $1,000s.

You have to have a big account there (my retirement money is there).

It's not fast but it was free at the time.
