Why do people continually try to worm their child into a college that is not at their intellectual level? Just choose some schools that are filled with similar kids and your child will be successful.

Yep, because better results for their own kid. For example poster 20:56. This board is really something else.

Advice I've heard from our CC:

1. Always submit 1500 or over to any school even if it's below 50th per cent. Scores are over-inflated now and 1500+ is objectively an excellent score.

2. Always submit any score in school's 50th percentile regardless of score.

3. Maybe submit 25%ile score if over 1400+.

The advice is to search for and read those posts. As others have pointed out— the answer depends and the landscape is changing.

Generally, submit if the score is above the 25%ile. If the student has other significant hooks/strengths (fgli for example), a little below the 25%ile is ok. But specifically, check your school’s Scoir/Naviance for the outcomes of similar stats because that’s going to be your best indicator.

For those of you with strong college counselors at school or private counselors, what advice have you been given if you have a strong GPA with high rigor (but a 1300 or so SAT? Should my DC submit if it’s 50th percentile? Or not submit for all TO schools?
