I also have a pair of burnished brown leather below-knee boots, also sleek-looking, that I wear with skinny jeans or minis and tights and which look great. I don't care about the wide trouser leg trend at all.
I have lace-up snowboots, which look nice but actually have an ankle shaft issue - the right shaft somehow digs into my ankle painfully. Can't recommend them, but I'm on the lookout for a similar suede/shearling style that IS comfy with a serious sole to go on snowy walks. I hate the Uggs etc, because they don't hold feet correctly. Recs welcome!
I still wear my Asics sneakers, just with warmer socks, to walk the dog, unless it's really cold or slippery. And if it's mild, I have cute ballet-style flats from Crown.
Find it impossible to get my hands on (my feet into) a pair of slim ankle booties - most of them have openings the size of the English Channel.
