We were visiting Korea in June and went to the DMZ. South Korea blasts KPop all day long at the border so that North Koreans working and living nearby can hear it. There is a NK propaganda town that you can see from a viewing tower. Crazy experience.

You can hear/watch but you better be very good at hiding. Otherwise, you will get killed. Kpop/kdrama worth your life? I am not so sure.

NK has their own entertainment industry that's by and heavily by the head governmen. Moranbong Band is a NK all girl group that's known. There's most likely more but we won't know the exact details.

K-Pop exists everywhere. NK citizens just are not permitted to listen to it, officially.

What about radio? Can’t the North Koreans just tune in to South Korean stations?

There’s a massive black market in North Korea for bootlegged DVDs and CDs.

So as the about poster said, officially no. But unofficially, North Koreans are not completely ignorant to outside entertainment.

Just wondering if it exists in North Korea too? Or only in South Korea?
