I just ask my kids to straighten up, including their beds, when they're having friends over.

+1 my kids did make their beds when they were younger, but that's when they had time in the morning. I gave up when they hit their teens and school started at 7:30.

Just curious, they did it last year but with an earlier time it’s very difficult to get going in the AM. I’ve been doing it after they leave. 7 and 9.
