I have been looking at this table https://www.crateandbarrel.com/basque-65-charcoal-grey-solid-wood-dining-table/s558066

And these chairs https://www.crateandbarrel.com/basque-charcoal-grey-wood-dining-chair-with-navy-cushion/s250084

I’m not sure if I should spend the money on this or buy something from Wayfair or Ikea

Find a local woodworker or cabinet maker. Or just some fool with a router and table/miter saw. A table like that could be made by a kid in High School shop class for around $200 in wood, stain, finish, or less.

If you know a hobbyist woodworker or hobbyist cabinet maker that wants to donate their time so they can get some time on their tools and make some dust, sure. No local business model would be able to touch the scale that allows Crate and Barrell to sell a $799 table.

That table's a good deal if you like the style.

LMAO you are clueless AF.

Hmmm. I have a 20k sf wood shop with a Multicam CNC, two Altendorf sliders, Altendorf bander, wide-belt sanders, boring machine 10+ shapers and we've never advertised.

I've got a clue.

That dining set could be great in a space with high ceilings and lots of natural light, but I worry it would drag down a smaller space, especially with lighting that ranges from ordinary to dark.

Do you like authentic midcentury? Those pieces were built to last, they're beautiful, and the clean, light lines work really well in smaller spaces.

Just spitballing, but if you like the darker look, maybe some Erik Buch chairs with black leather upholstery (get the 49s if you can!), paired with a danish rosewood table? Wouldn't have to be a matched set. You could probably get that done for $2500 on FB marketplace...and then you'd have true collectible pieces.

I don't dislike the crate and barrel pieces -- I just think you should be careful about where they're going.

This ^ It's a really simple table.
Chairs are more complex, and you might want to buy them, but OOF those prices are ridiculous.

Those chairs will go on sale OP. They always do. Wait until then and peruse other stores chairs too. You should be able to get them for closer to $150-199.

Try Modern Mobler. Lots of midcentury tables are sized perfectly for our housing stock.

A local carpenter can do this. And it will be custom.
