Subject: Any beaches in Delaware or Jersey good for late December?
Lewes DE would be nice that time of year. It’s more year round than Rehoboth. St Michael’s would be great if you are okay with water, but not technically beach.
Don’t listen to the naysayers. We go to Cape Cod for new years and it’s fine to walk on the beach, hike, etc. Even a couple of ice cream shops are open.

We have a house near Asbury Park and spend the week between Christmas and New Year’s there every year. The weather is at most 10 degrees colder than it is here and everything is open except the ice cream shop. We love it.

Rehoboth, has restaurants open. Also look at Avalon or Stone Harbor they have more ocean front properties.

Weather is not "similar to the DC area" a long the beach in late December. That's because there's the giant body of water called the Atlantic Ocean and nothing blocking the wind along it but hitting the beaches.
Um, we’ve spent many New Year’s in Rehoboth and the weather is rarely that miserable. Plenty of people and places open. You can even—gasp—comfortably stroll outside.

Have you considered renting a big place in Bucks County, PA? It could be lovely that tine of year, and restaurants would be open. Try New Hope.

I would do Philly or something instead and get a suburban Airbnb or several hotel rooms. Lots of great restaurants and things to do.

No. Don’t do it unless you simply just need a house to sleep these people and no one can host. But otherwise a waste of time and money.

Monmouth County beaches are lovely and lively year round due to a large residential population, particularly places like Spring Lake. 99.9% of restaurants are open all year and there's lovely shops in the town center. Plus, lots of Christmas decorations. Asbury Park's in the area with A LOT of great food options. Weather in December is similar to the DC area, so you could do a beach walk or run.

Subject: Any beaches in Delaware or Jersey good for late December?
We would like to rent a big beach house for 9 people right on the beach but also would want some restaurants to be open and of course some hope of weather that would be reasonable for beach walk. We can't go south, so would have to be Delaware or New Jersey. Anyone done this before or otherwise have tips? Cape May, Rehobeth, Jersey Shore (but where?) thanks!
