I rewatched while listening to The West Wing Weekly podcast. It was cool to hear the behind the scenes stuff.

This time around I feel like it’s too heart breaking. We’re still not doing better on so many issues that come up on the show.

Honestly, I couldn't rewatch it before the Trump years, either. Once I started interacting with White House staff in the real world I quickly became jaded.

It was always a silly fantasy. We didn’t lose West Wing-esque civil servants, you silly naive children. We never had them.

BS. WW is a fantasy but we did have honorable public servants and once upon a time, they outnumbered the criminals. You can blame the Supreme Court, Ronald Reagan, and Newt Gingrich for the number of crooks in politics right now and the propaganda you’ve absorbed that aligns with the troll farms of Russia and China.

Government is not bad. Bad people in government are.

Why?

He looks like a duck and his entire schtick is being an overly self involved narcissist.

True. Veep was closer to real life than WW.

I used to watch Veep.

Funny and not too far from what really happens.

I rewatched it during the first Trump administration and it was a good escape and reminder of what America was and could be again. I don’t think I could enjoy it now because Trump has taken us so far from our democracy in such a short time that I don’t think we will ever return to our system of government and beliefs in the constitution.

It is such a great show! So hopeful and inspiring with civil servants who are actually good people who want to do the right thing.

I need this escape in these terrifying times.
