Get an induction.

Which brand do you all have for the single induction?

OP here. hanks. Wow looks like people are mostly recommending the single induction burner. Am I getting that right?

I used a no name induction hotplate before replacing my old electric range with an induction range. I stopped using the electric range unless I needed multiple burners because induction was really that convenient.

IKEA has a portable induction burner for $74.00. I have it and it’s been a workhorse for many years.

We used a single burner induction cooktop when we did our kitchen reno. It was great. That and the countertop toaster oven kept us sane. We also had a microwave, outdoor grill and a crockpot, but it was really the induction burner and toaster oven that kept us going.

Like others, I couldn't use more than one appliance at a time, unless I put them in different parts of the house that are on different circuit breakers. So I'd be cautious about a two-burner setup for that reason, you may find that you can only use one anyway.

This - don’t try to do pasta in the burner, roast veggies in the toaster oven, and sauce in the microwave like I did. Oops.

We did a huge renovation and just went without a burner. I did t like the idea of using it and not having ventilation or having it get really hot on our temp set up on the dining room. We bought a huge toaster oven that had convection and air fryer in it and between that and the microwave, it was fine.
As far as induction, our range is half gas and half induction. I absolutely love the induction and pretty much never use the gas unless I need the giant ring for a wok or something. Induction is amazing.

I got a Duxtop portable induction cooktop to
use during our kitchen remodel and it worked very well. My son later commandeered it for his own apartment.

Not for a renovation, but I have used a portable induction burner before, and it was just as good as my induction cooktop. Just be careful not to overload the outlet by running more than the burner at the same time.

I borrowed an electric skillet from a friend and used my grill. It would have been nice to have something easier for pasta though.

I got a brand new one from my local buy nothi by group. Helped us survive the kitchen renovation (along with a toaster oven and microwave). Works well, but since I didn’t realize I needed certain types of pots for induction I had to dig through the already packed boxes to make sure we had ones that worked!

Interesting idea! We did not do this.

We needed a new gas grill, so we bought one with a side burner. The grill was fabulous, but the burner was useless. I came here to tell you that the side burner on a grill is a bad way to go!

We basically got by with the grill, a microwave and a toaster oven. By the time we were done, the kids wanted pancakes, tacos and spaghetti & meatballs!

Hot plates used to be so cheap and last forever.

We're getting our kitchen redone. I want to buy one of those portable cooktops, Cuisinart has an electric double cooktop for $100, and there are also some induction single cooktops for less than $150. We currently only use gas though I like the idea of trying out induction for a while. Anyone been there done that?
