"Cute" ones are only for kids under 5 ish. At that age he will want scary. A mask is a simple way. Tell him a budget and have him look online for masks and stuff.
I disagree. I think Halloween is to each their own. Set a budget and take him to a store or go to the costume website of your choice and let him choose. You can also google ideas for easy costumes.
Either way, it should be his choice. There’s no requirement to dress up. He could celebrate by wearing orange and/or black, or maybe a Halloween T-shirt. There’s no requirement to go trick-or-treating, either. Maybe he’d rather hand out candy or ignore the holiday altogether. The whole point is for kids to have fun, so if it isn’t fun for him, he should feel free to skip it.
