Eligible for what?

Reread the first post in this thread. OP wrote that he/she was told that eligibility for health benefits took a couple of months.

So your compensation is a surprise? What kind of clown company does that?

Agreed. Oversee hiring for my org and we send the benefits guide WITH the offer and it should not be the first time the candidate is seeing it.

I would email again and call. What kind of job is this for?

Benefits are part of compensation. Companies need to share them.

OP call the HR person directly

Call him on the phone. I fully understand wanting to know all of these details, but you also want to communicate that you are excited about the job (unless the details make you decide that you are not). That is best done human to human.

Open enrollment is around the corner for many companies. Maybe the new benefits for 2026 haven’t been finalized or are going to be vastly different from what they are now. I would call vs. email.

Email the hiring manager directly or one of the folks who interviewed you

I got a call from HR on Thursday morning letting me know I'm being offered a job. Later that afternoon, the offer came in writing but offered no specifics on benefits except to say that I'd be eligible for health insurance and 401k within a few months. No info on which insurance provider, cost of the plan choices, and any 401k matching. I emailed the HR guy back on Thursday to ask for this info, but no response. Checked in with him again on Friday and again, no response.

It's now almost end of day Monday and the job offer expires (according to its wording) on Wednesday. No word from HR. Originally, they told me they want me to start next Monday. I'm leaning toward not accepting the offer for a few reasons, but this may just be the nail in the coffin. WTF is going on?
