I was at one of these colleges and guys really played the field. Fun for them.

So gay men can’t be in stem? International students can’t be in humanities?

You could have just said to subtract non-English speakers (although I don’t see why a woman can’t date an international student) and gay men and left out the stupid stereotypes.

Was worried about that.

"Asked out on dates"

Is she willing to do the asking?

I used to live in San Francisco, same issue. Every schlubby guy I knew who wanted a girlfriend had one, and all the amazing, beautiful, accomplished women I knew were single. I saw the writing on the wall and left in my thirties.

Where did you move to?

Back east, to the NYC suburbs. Dated more there in one year than I had in the previous five years in SF. Met my now-husband and am a happy middle-aged mom of two.

It's every college in America, so tell her to get ready.

Statistical studies don't matter at the individual level.

Teach your daughter some attitudes and strategies that will allow her to identify available guys she is interested in. 40% will be enough.

I think young people have always focused too much on drinking parties and bars. It would be better to set up friend dates and coffees and such and warm people up from there. It's hard for girls to be the inviters, but strategically I think it could have many advantages.

Could parents or students at universities with 60/40 ratios comment on the dating scene? DD is straight (and white if that matters, but would be open to other races and ethnicities). Not looking for her to get an Mrs but I think she would like to be asked out on dates and have a boyfriend in college.
