My neighbor teaches high school and has a big box of things for her students. It's just a take it if you'd like something policy. No judgement. Some snacks. Dried fruit. Some protein. All shelf stable stuff. In my youth I learned what it was to be hungry, and that stays with you. So, at the start of every school year, I fill that box with everything imaginable. And I check back in in the Spring to see if I can help replenish it. Being hungry sucks. Especially if you are proud and/or embarrassed.

I know of a few title 1 schools that have pantries for students. Some have clothes as well. These are usually coordinated by the Parent Community Coordinators at the schools. If you are interested in donating, reach out to the Parent Community Coordinator or the social worker at your school.

No, they don't. Some schools either a teacher or guidance counselor does it, others PTA, others don't have it.

Do each of the 211 schools have a pantry to provide essential items such as toiletries - foods - clothing - etc for students who need them? Who coordinates and stocks the closet/pantry? If students/families need, do they request items through the school counselor? How does it work?
