People are living on the edge with no margin. They don’t have enough money, they don’t get to rest, their health is poor, and the political situation is not ok. When you are in a constant state of stress you don’t have the energy to handle slights in a gracious way, and you’re not taking the time to be appreciative and kind either.

Yes. I hate driving and most everyday interactions now, like picking up coffee or grabbing lunch. I find myself just ordering through Toast online and doing hallway pickup (no need to deal with talking to crabby or apathetic staff to get food.)

Definitely not all, but agree there has been a general uptick in what I would call antisocial behavior.

I do think there are still kind people. Some things I've noticed though...
*People are less able to calmly discuss differences in political opinions and listen to eachother. I miss that.
*There is a lot of free floating anger and burn out. I had a doctor lose her marbles about something another patient did and rant to me. I listened to a teacher rant loudly about students to her spouse. No names used, but she used universal they as though she didn't notice any of them doing the right thing.
On a more positive note...
*People are wiser to takers which is a good thing. The manipulative person who takes advantage of the kindness of strangers doesn't get away with it as much.
*People are less able to calmly discuss differences in political opinions and listen to eachother. I miss that.

I held the door open for someone as I left a building and she just sailed through on her phone and never acknowledged me.
I think since the pandemic people are quicker to anger and when they get angry, are angrier than situations warrant. Also some people really lost their ability to socialize nicely.

Look for the helpers, as Mr. Rogers said. There are still people who are kind and helpful out there
