No way until I try the service. Frankly, its pretty sleazy to ask a friend to give a 5 star review without trying it.

I have a feeling OP feels the whole company is a bit gimmicky/scammy.

My policy is that I don't leave online reviews for anyone, ever, period. Then when someone asks me to, I just tell them my policy and that's the end of the discussion. Of course, I do have accounts with anonymized usernames that I use to leave reviews occasionally, but no one knows that.

You can ignore it. Especially if this is a mass email request.

You can leave 5 stars with no comments and a vague name if there's that kind of control over what appears on the site.

You can decline and offer to leave an anonymous or "John from DC" kind of testimonial if your objection is the public nature of it and control of your name appearing.

You can say "I don't leave product reviews because I worked hard to keep my name off the internet and this is part of that, but I can help you spread the word."

You can say "I don't comment on health care things on the internet...too dicey re: privacy."

You can say "Reviews aren't my thing. Want to get coffee Tuesday?"

Really? You think it's ok to leave fake reviews in a health or wellness business? A candle or craft, perhaps. But you sound like you have bad morals.

If she wants reviews she needs to give you free samples.

If it’s a good friend, I would try it and then leave a great review, assuming I liked it. I would support my friend.

Very rude for friend to even ask you. I wouldn’t do it.

No. You don't lie to please your friends. What sort of morals do you have, weirdo?

OP, you can only leave a review if you have experienced the service or used the product. Once you have, there are plenty of ways to write an honest but positive review (assuming the experience wasn't catastrophic!). If your friend gifts you the service, you need to specify that you did not pay for it in your review.

Fiend started a new business. They already have 20+ 5-star reviews from friends (not actual customers), and I have qualms about it. It's in a health/wellness field, and I want to support my friend but also find the dishonesty about fake reviews a bit unsettling. What would do?
